PESA Encourages Denton to Reject Ban on Hydraulic Fracturing

Economic development in Denton, Texas, is clearly on the rise, largely due to the over $30 million in tax revenue that the city has received from energy production within the Barnett Shale Formation.

On July 15, the Denton City Council will hold a public hearing regarding a citizen-initiated ordinance to prohibit hydraulic fracturing. The city council has already approved a moratorium on new gas wells.

PESA members support over 500,000 jobs and are global leaders in the advanced developments of hydraulic fracturing in places like Denton, allowing for safer and more abundant energy production and enabling the US to become less dependent upon foreign energy sources.

PESA strongly urges the mayor and city council to reject the petition, which would negatively impact Texas’ and the national economy.
