The Colorado Oil and Gas Task Force met November 20 and 21 in Loveland to hear perspectives from local governments in Northern Colorado and to review case studies of Longmont and other Front Range communities. The 19-member task force was formed Sept. 8 by Gov. John Hickenlooper to revisit regulations for oil and gas operations due to increased industry activity. Task force members heard from a number of local government officials and received varying perspectives with some municipalities asking for the ability to regulate hydraulic fracturing with their cities, while other local governments believe they have sufficient oversight of oil and gas operations.
